Just How Much Vitamin C Do You Need For Optimum Health?

By Stephen P Smith Platinum Quality Author

Many benefits of vitamin C have been identified since the consumption of citrus fruit was first recognized as the immediately effective cure and preventative for the scurvy which so dreadfully afflicted the long distance sailors of a few centuries ago.

Numerous studies have recognized the vitamin as a possible protector against coronary heart disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, hypertension and cancer, to name but a few, and it is possible that all of these effects stem ultimately from vitamin C’s acknowledged role as a powerful anti-oxidant, active in preventing the free radical damage which is a known cause of premature ageing and many chronic degenerative diseases.

So the absence of acute deficiency diseases such as scurvy in modern affluent societies should not be taken as implying that the typical Western diet contains an adequate intake of vitamin C for optimum long-term health.

The United States Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for vitamin C is 90 mg per day for a healthy, non-smoking man and 75 mg for a woman. But these suggested requirements are increased to 125mg and 110 mg respectively in the case of smokers, a tacit acknowledgement of the increased requirement for this vitamin which increased toxic stress places on the body. But these RDAs nevertheless appear to be set at a level sufficient only to avoid outright deficiency disease.

To be sure of obtaining all the optimum benefits of vitamin C, the authoritative Linus Pauling Institute has recommended a daily minimum intake of at least 400 mg. This amount has been shown to achieve saturation levels of the vitamin within the body’s tissues in healthy young adults who are non-smokers. To get this in perspective, even the consumption of the recommended five daily servings of fruits and vegetables may provide just 200 mg of vitamin C, whilst even commercial multi-vitamin supplements typically provide only around 60 mg.

But the real story’s actually even worse than this, not only because all too few people actually manage to consume the recommended quantities of fruit and vegetables, but because the nutritional quality of those that we do consume is poor, and getting worse.

As long ago as 1936, Senate Document 264 noted that the poor quality of American farm soils was leading to widespread nutritional deficiencies, and the 1992 Earth Summit reported that mineral concentrations in US farm soils were 85% lower than those of a hundred years ago.
Nor does the problem lie just in the soil. The modern Western diet’s preference for highly refined grains, and the treatment of fruits and vegetables with preservatives, dyes, pesticides and even radiation is a proven disaster for vitamin and mineral retention, as well as a significant toxic assault on the body.

Indeed, the problem for us in the twenty-first century is that our environment seems as though it might have been expressly designed for ill-health. Daily we’re exposed to a kind of toxic soup of pollutants such as industrial emissions, car exhausts, pesticides, herbicides, dyes and all kinds of everyday household chemicals. But as the liver works ever harder in an increasingly desperate struggle to detoxify the body, an unwelcome side effect is that it produces enormous quantities of the free radicals which are amongst the chief contributors to premature ageing and degenerative disease.
In these adverse circumstances it can only make sense to ensure that the body is as lavishly provided as possible with the top quality anti-oxidants of which vitamin C is certainly one of the most important.

Fortunately, high dosages of vitamin C are readily available as supplements and fortunately, too, it seems that the manufactured kind of l-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is chemically identical to that obtained naturally. This is not in any way to deny the importance of healthy eating, or to suggest that it doesn’t make sense to try and eat the recommended five daily servings of fruit and vegetables, because these contain a myriad of trace nutrients which operate synergistically within the body, and which all need to be present for optimum health.

It does suggest, however, that to rely on diet alone, however apparently healthy, may well be to risk missing out on the vital anti-oxidant properties of vitamin C which may in time be reflected in chronic, degenerative, if not acute, disease. It should be noted as well, that as a water-soluble compound, any excess vitamin C is harmlessly excreted by the body. So with all the health benefits of vitamin C at stake, it surely makes sense to err on the side of taking in too much rather than too little.

Vagina Health Tips for a Sweet Smell & Optimum Health

By Sacha Tarkovsky

All women need to be aware of their vagina’s health. Keeping it healthy means you will avoid infections and also have a pleasant odor and the tips enclosed will ensure that you have optimum vagina health

A healthy vagina is home to a huge variety of minute organisms. Normally, they live harmoniously in an acidic environment that prevents the overproduction of any one species in the vagina and helps combat foreign bodies that can infect it.

Vaginal infections are common and occur when the delicate balance is disrupted can cause discomfort in the area and unpleasant smells.

Firstly, the health of a women’s Vagina and the smell are influenced by overall lifestyle, diet and weight.

If you follow the tips below you can ensure a healthy vagina so here they are:

1. Your Overall Diet

Eat a healthy diet. Cigarettes alcohol and drugs should be eliminated if you can or cut down, as should heavily spiced foods and junk food.

Try and eat as naturally as possible (food free of additives) and make sure you drink lots of water.
What you put into your body comes out in its secretions and the vagina is the same. Ever noticed how your sweat smells differently after eating spiced food, then you will realize why this is so important.

2. Cleaning

Odor-producing bacteria can thrive on the vulva and need to be cleaned off regularly to prevent vaginal inflections and prevent odors.

Washing the genital area daily with a simple, fragrance-free soap is normally enough to keep the vagina area clean and fresh.

Your vagina self-cleans itself so douching is not required.

Furthermore, douching upsets the delicate balance between good and bad bacteria in the vaginal ecosystem and can actually be harmful.

Because infections such as yeasts are found in the intestine, it is important after going to the toilet to wipe front to back i.e. you need to wipe the vagina area first and the rectum last!

During sex it is also very important to avoid contamination of the vagina area with organisms and bodies from the bowel, or rectum area.

3. Clothes to wear

To prevent vaginal infections and keep your vagina healthy make sure your clothing allows the area to breath. To do this avoids tight garments and fabrics containing a high percentage of synthetic fibers such as nylon.

Remember, that tampons and diaphragms left for too long in the vagina can create a very strong unpleasant odor as well.

4. Safe sex

Finally, if you don’t know your partner very well, always Use a condom and a spermicidal to reduce the chances of infection and disease.

If you are unlucky enough to get an infection, the symptoms are outlined below of three of the most common ones.

The good news is that to reclaim a healthy vagina is easy, if you are alerted to the problem and take action.

1. Bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) accounts for more than 50% of all vagina related health visits.

About half of all women with BV vaginal infections have no obvious symptoms.

The most common symptom is a thin, white to light grey discharge with an offensive fishy like smell that is extremely unpleasant.

The odor is strongest when the discharge is exposed to any alkaline substance and this includes soap and semen, it will therefore be at its strongest and most obvious after cleaning or sex.

BV is easy to treat and is normally treated by a course of antibiotics prescribed by a doctor.

2. Yeast

Although yeast infections are probably the most common type of vaginal infection, many women never bother to seek help.

Most simply recover naturally and others treat themselves with anti-fungal vaginal creams available without prescription from the chemist.

Symptoms of yeast infections include:

Vulvar itching combined with irritation in the vagina area and redness.

If the urinary opening becomes inflamed, urination will increase and discomfort will be present.
If the infection is severe, the vulva will swell and fine breaks, called fissures occur. This causes vaginal discharges to become thicker and whiter.

Yeast infections are the result of excessive growth of a family of fungi that normally live in any healthy vagina, but when they increase the balance of the vagina is upset and problems occur.

The most common infection is vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), which is usually caused by a fungus named Candida albicans.

There are two types of VVC:

Uncomplicated, a mild infection that responds to therapy. Or recurrent which, is more severe and often occurs in women who have diabetes or are infected with less treatable forms of yeast, such as Candida glabratia.

Recurrent VVC, normaly occurs more than four times a year and needs a long initial treatment of around two weeks and then a follow-up therapy course for up to 6 months or longer.

Certain factors are common causes such as nylon and Lycra clothing that traps heat and moisture, so be aware of our clothing tips for a healthy vagina we noted earlier.

Other common causes include:

Obesity, pregnancy, diabetes and suppression of the immune system during illnesses, the use of oral contraceptives, and eating excessive amounts of sugars, starch, and yeasts.

If you do have a yeast vaginal infection, your doctor will ordinarily treat you with either prescription or nonprescription antifungal creams and suppositories referred to earlier.

If you have a problem get professional help and you will soon have a healthy vagina. Do not ignore symptoms or think they will go away get help quickly.

3. Trichomoniasis

Trichomoniasis, or "trich," is a sexually transmitted vaginal infection suffered by a huge amount of women worldwide and this runs into tens of millions.
While infection with trichomoniasis can be uncomfortable, it is not in anyway a serious threat to overall health.

The symptoms are normally vulvar and vaginal burning and itching. The burning is normally at its height after intercourse.

In addition, there may be vulvar swelling and frequent and uncomfortable urination.
There is a heavy vaginal discharge, usually yellowish or green, which may or may not have an offensive smell.

The trichomonad is a minute parasite. It has three tails at its narrow end and swims with them and the white blood cells of the body follow.

These blood cells literally chase down the trichomonad and kill it by eating it.

Symptoms occur only when the body's natural defense are swamped by with sheer number of reproducing trichomonads and the white blood cells cannot cope.

Trichomoniasis is usually easily diagnosed and antibiotic treatment cures it in the majority of cases.

Follow the tips above for a healthy vagina and if you do have a problem don’t worry or be embarrassed simply seek help quickly and clear up the problem, in the vast majority of cases treatment is quick, easy and painless

Combine Milk Thistle and Liver Care For Optimum Health

By Angelina Summers Platinum Quality Author

In today's day and age there are just so many demands on us that it's difficult to keep vital and healthy along the way. And it's a miracle that our body manages to juggle everything and keep all of our systems working optimally so that we can get on with our lives. One of the most important things you can do to support this is make sure your liver stays free of toxins so it can carry out its mammoth job. Read here about how milk thistle and liver care go hand in hand to keep you healthy.

Now you might not have heard of milk thistle before. It's proper name is silybum marianum but it is also referred to as holy thistle. One reason it got it's name may be due to the fact that its leaves contain a milky like substance.

Many people think that the seeds get used for medicinal purposes but it's actually the dried fruits that are used.

The main reason milk thistle and liver care have become linked together in such a big way is due to the active compound silymarin. If you're looking for one ingredient that will help you to keep your liver healthy, then this is the one.

For a start it has very strong antioxidant properties which means it protects your liver from the effect of free radicals. What else does it do? It strengthens and detoxifies your liver and protects it against all sorts of toxins and alcohol.

And that's just the start. It has been proven to repair damage caused by illnesses such as hepatitis, by normalizing the liver function, and cirrhosis. In fact studies have shown that it can even extend the life of patients suffering from cirrhosis.

It detoxifies, protects and regenerates your liver and has an anti-inflammatory effect, so it is easy to see why milk thistle and liver care go hand in hand.

When you consider that it has been used medicinally for over 2,000 years for treating both the liver and the gallbladder, you can understand why it is such a valued herb in this area today.

And in addition to the amazing health benefits to the liver, using milk thistle can help you in many other ways. You will notice your energy levels rise as your body flushes out unwanted toxins. Your skin benefits hugely from this cleansing too and so you will quickly begin to enjoy a more youthful looking complexion which is a great added bonus.

Now milk thistle and liver care should be an integral part of your overall health plan. But don't forget the importance of supplementing all round to keep yourself in optimum health. And remember that herbs combined with each other can have an amazing synergistic effect that far outstrips the effect of taking them individually.

And whether your interest is in milk thistle and liver care or in other health matters, doing research and informing yourself before you make any choices is so important.

Happy hunting.

Bounce Into Life With Optimum Health

By A. Wolski

A truly healthy life is the most important ingredient in our world and something that we all seek to understand. We live in a remarkable world of renowned achievements and a healthy life is no less achievable than any of the other feats accomplished.

However, it is difficult to retain a positive outlook when the media is full of horror stories where almost everything is deemed to create some form of health disaster.

Everyone is different but there are some factors that are common to the general health and wellness of each and every one of us.

One of these factors is diet. We are all at the mercy of what we eat so a good nutritious diet is crucial to our health and wellness. If you are overweight or obese, every other facet of your general health will suffer.

Weight management is crucial as we get older and you will feel healthier if you eat a balanced diet. Choose the wholemeal variety in breads, pasta, and breakfast cereals. When purchasing dairy products, try to stick to the low fat versions. Also remember that fat, sugar, and salt should only be consumed in moderation. And don't forget the fresh fruit and vegetables!! Getting into a good eating regime will also reduce your risk of illness.

Another factor is fitness. I know many of you (including myself) cringe at the thought of doing all those dreaded pushups and so forth. Well, don't panic!!! Just going for a walk is enough to get started on achieving and maintaining a decent level of fitness. Being unfit has a negative effect on our energy levels and metabolism.

There are other activities for achieving peak fitness and performance as well. Taking up active sports assists in your fitness goals as well as being a pleasant social experience. There are also activities such as jogging, swimming, tai chi, yoga, and going to the gym.

While exercising is important, so too is just increasing your level of activity. This can be done by changing some of your habits so that you routinely become more active. Some ways of doing this include:

• Instead of driving to the local shop, walk or ride a bike
• Park your car further away and walk that bit further to work
• Go up the stairs instead of taking the lift or the escalator

As well as making a positive difference to your physical fitness and your weight aspirations, exercise has a number of other benefits including:

• Lowers your risk of diabetes
• Lowers your risk of heart disease
• Increased emotional wellbeing
• Improved memory
• Better sleep patterns
• Increased bone density
• More energy

There is a global interest in alternative treatments these days as people question some of the side effects of our Western medicines. People want to maintain a high quality of holistic health without risk and so they are flocking to purchase natural alternatives to encourage a healthy lifestyle and enhance their general wellbeing.

So, by keeping an eye on your weight and remaining fit, you should be able to maintain a good quality of life and enhanced general wellbeing for many years to come.

Multi-Vitamin Supplements - They Really Are Necessary for Optimum Health

By Bruce Brightman Platinum Quality Author

Vitamins: you can’t live without them, that’s for sure. The question, then, is: where do you get them from? In the ‘good old days’ (which may have been in your grandparents generation, but perhaps much further back than that) we got our vitamins and other nutrition from totally natural sources: the sun, the water we drank, and the food we ate.

Nowadays, and this is no secret, our food and whatever we drink, just doesn’t pack the same punch as it did in the good old days. There are many reasons for this, and I don’t want to write a dissertation on it. But, for example, many of us get our food from soil that is not as rich as it used to be. And the many chemicals that are used on most of the food we are likely to eat may deplete the nutrition even further, or at least add some unneeded poisons to our diet. And it often comes from far away from where we live, so it may have lost some more of its nutritional content on the way here.

So, what should we do? Well, one common approach is to take vitamins. This view has both backers and detractors.

Recently, according to the Seattle Times, one former detractor of this approach has changed its viewpoint.

They note that “the American Medical Association (AMA) is advising all adults to take at least one multi-vitamin per day -- a reversal of their long-standing anti-vitamin policy.”

Their policy has changed it seems, because of advances in research on the effects of vitamins. It now appears that people who get enough vitamins may have a lower risk of some common chronic illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis.

Perhaps their change of view is reflecting that of the American public. For instance, 20 years ago the AMA only encouraged vitamin supplements for pregnant women and those who are chronically sick.

I remember, when I was younger, that there were some multi-vitamins on the market and some other vitamin and nutritional supplements also, but they were not your common fare. And when I started going to health food stores, I ran into a whole barrage of strange vitamins that I’d certainly never heard of in biology classes.

But now, for example, the value of folic acid in preventing some birth defects and heart disease is recognized.

Who ever heard of folic acid 20 or 30 years ago?

Of course it’s not just that food has less nutrition nowadays, but also that we are not so aware of caring about our own nutrition and how it relates to health. The AMA says that almost 80 percent of Americans do not eat the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables a day to provide essential nutrients.

If that is the case, then we need to get our vitamins and minerals from somewhere. And it seems that vitamin supplements are now accepted by the scientists and doctors who should know about these things.

Another thing that scientists are learning more about is that our recommended daily allowances for vitamins may need rethinking.

Dr. Jeffrey Blumberg, of Tuft's University's Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging said that nutrition experts are concerned that recommended daily allowances for many vitamins are too low. RDAs were originally established to prevent symptoms of vitamin-deficiency disorders. But evidence is growing that higher levels of many vitamins are necessary for optimum health.

And, as we know, if these vitamins don’t come from our food, we need them from somewhere, such as vitamin supplements.

Dr. Robert Fletcher of Harvard University agrees. He reflects that many of us thought while we were growing up that a reasonable diet would take care of our vitamin needs. “But,” he says, “the new evidence… is that vitamins also prevent the usual diseases we deal with every day, (such as) heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and birth defects.”

However, experts, and others of us with common sense, remember that vitamins are a “supplement” to our diets. They don’t replace a balanced diet. So, by all means eat a balanced diet, but if you want to lower your risk of contracting the common chronic illnesses of today it would also be wise to add a good multi-vitamin supplement to your diet.

Reaching and Maintaining Optimum Health

By Scotty Campbell

Optimum health is the perfect balance between nutrition and fitness. If you learn how to manage correctly both the amount of food you eat and the amount of exercise you do, you will be able to reach optimum health.

Nutrition is very important for mainlining a healthy body and spirit. You should watch what you eat and how much you eat of it. Even overeating on a "good" food can be bad for your health. A good example for this is the carrot. Carrots are vegetables. They have a lot of vitamins, no fat, and can be a great way to improve your diet. But if you eat too many carrots you can poison yourself because the tip of the carrot is where all the access chemicals from the soil go. This is one of the reasons why buying bio products is worth the extra money.

Fitness is the other important aspect of optimum health. Your body needs to be strong and your metabolism needs to be high so that you will be able to fight off diseases. The right amount of exercises can make your heart and muscles stronger and you will have no trouble running after your children or joining an extreme club. Doing exercising and participating in sports is very stimulating for your mind and will charge you with a lot of energy. Use Ginko Biloba and Green Tea For Optimum Health Benefits

By Tara Mathews Platinum Quality Author

People are always looking for ways to be healthier. Adding ginko biloba and green tea to your diet is currently quite popular among health enthusiasts. Both of them contain antioxidant properties that help fight and prevent serious health issues. You can take them separately or you can take them in a multi vitamin supplement. Antioxidants help to fight the effects caused by free radicals. These chemicals move around your body and cause damage to your skin cells. They can potentially cause diseases as well.

Ginko biloba and green tea help keep your body balance and healthy. Let me give you some background on what exactly ginko biloba is. The ginko tree is one of the oldest trees in the world. They can live up to a thousand years. The Chinese have used its healing properties for centuries.

One of the benefits of ginko is that it increases blood flow to the brain. By boosting the oxygen levels to your brain, you can achieve concentration and memory improvement. Green tea comes from the camellia sinensis plant. It also features excellent antioxidant properties. In addition, it helps to reduce weight by burning more fat when exercising. It will also help to reduce cholesterol.

Ginko biloba and green tea working together in one multi vitamin supplement offer even greater antioxidant properties. A particular supplement has over seventy nutrients working in synergy together to form one very effective nutritional supplement. It also makes sense financially to take a multi vitamin rather than numerous tablets. They also work at preventing cancer and premature signs of aging. Many people use them to help boost their metabolism.

The multi vitamin supplement that I am referring to consists of ginko biloba and green tea extract along with amino acids and many other vital nutrients, herbs and vitamins. In addition, you should also follow a good exercise routine along with healthy eating in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The Keys to Optimum Health

By David Jernigan

Recently I was asked the question, "Dr. Jernigan, what are the keys to perfect health?"

To answer this we must first define what "Perfect Health" really means. We definitely know that it is not the absence of symptoms, since feeling good is no guarantee of being healthy. This point is clear with so many people are diagnosed with cancer and other illness that take years to become manifest, yet these people would say they were symptom-free for many years prior to their diagnosis.

I like the term "Optimum Health." I like it so much that I put it in the name of my clinic...Hansa Center for Optimum Health!

Optimum Health is the product of living with the highest degree of functional integrity within the body, mind, and spirit.

Optimum Health is manifested by the ability of the body, mind, and spirit to adapt instantly and correctly to any changes in its internal and external environment.

True Healing is the product of guiding and facilitating the restoration of integrity of every aspect of the body, mind, and spirit through thoughtfully applied physical treatments, natural medicines, and therapies, as well as through teaching and coaching one back to optimum health on all levels.

True healing can never occur by simply masking the symptoms. It might as well be magic if one must take a pill forever in order to feel good. If one takes the pill away, the reality is obvious...Not only do you still have your problem but underneath the pill it has gotten worse. So the keys to Optimum Health cannot be found by creating Drug-Induced Illusions of Health!

In an ideal world each generation would have taught the next generation optimum realities of understanding the concepts of universal love, the concepts of understanding how one truly gets what it is that they are getting, how to grow and eat energetically "live" food, and so much more.

The point is that we are all playing "catch up" for all the mistakes, and mistreatment, and misinformation that has gone on in our lives and in the lives of our ancestors.

So we must realize first that true healing is necessary no matter whom you are and no matter if you have symptoms or not! I cannot stress enough the need to only use healing methods that work with the sole purpose of restoring God's perfect design of you, because we are invincible by design...if we play by the universal laws/rules and if we restore our entire vessel. I like the term "Vessel" instead of "body" since most of us were taught that all we are is our physical body. We are definitely more than our physical body!

The keys to Optimum Health must open the locks of every door in our vessel. If we are to strive to evolve to highest achievable being-ness then no door can be left locked.

The world's most celebrated and astute physicians cannot heal even the simplest paper cut, much less serious illness. So the job of every physician/healer must always be to identify everything within the body, mind, and spirit that are interfering with the Vessel's own ability to heal and provide it with the building blocks and information it needs restore optimum function and integrity on all levels.

The healing technologies we now have, such as American Biological Medicine™, BioResonance Scanning™, and Circuit Healing™, allow us to literally access the light information of the body (Illuminated Physiology and the Medical Uses of Light). We can now flow dynamically through the crystalline matrix of the vessel and identify virtually any interference to optimum function within a person and go even further and actually identify the corrective building blocks and/or information the body needs to heal itself.

For fourteen years we have specialized in the world's toughest patients. About 90% of our patients come from other states and countries with all manner of "incurable" illnesses. So I am sharing with you secrets of our remarkable success and many of the gems I have learned in treating literally several thousand of patients.

If you have to keep taking something, natural or prescription, in order to feel good then it is not fixing anything and you will be a slave to the medicine forever!

We all agree that the body, mind, and spirit are all interconnected and all interdependent. So if we create the drug-induced illusion that we are healthy in our body, when underneath the pill we are still sick, then our mind and spirit will be sick, no matter if you are symptom-free.

If the mind is sick through less-than-ideal thinking, imperfect "truths", and stuck emotional conflicts then the body and spirit will also be dysfunctional. No pill can rewrite your truths.

If the spirit is sick through underdeveloped love, compassion, and darkness then the body and mind will be affected as well. No pill can mend a broken heart.

Remember our definitions of Optimum Health.

So, here are the Keys to Optimum Health:

· Restore and maintain every aspect of the physical body.

· Renew your mind by learning universal truth and learn the rules to the game of life that govern what it is that you are getting.

· Be the personification/embodiment of perfect love and broadcast the same to the world.

· When possible follow the joyful path and strive to help others do the same.

Why Optimum Nutrition is Essential to Optimum Health

By Gilles Coulombe

An important starting point for achieving optimum health is through utilizing optimum nutrition.

Optimum nutrition helps maintain good health in a dilapidated environment, fights off disease, corrects imbalances in the body and provides energy and enthusiasm for life. Optimum health is linked to optimum nutrition. But, the point is that it is important to get the proper nutrients from the food. Nowadays, industrial food marketed in the food chain are filled up with additives which affect the quality of food. In order to get optimum nutrition, natural supplements like vitamins and minerals have to be added to the diet.

Each year, average American eats twelve pounds of food additives and a gallon of pesticides, not to mention all the air-born pollutants that are inhaled! It's no wonder our bodies are overworked, overburdened, and no longer able to adequately eliminate all these foreign substances.

Diet-related diseases include, but are nor limited to, coronary heart disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, various cancers and osteoporosis. These diseases take the lives of millions of people each year and cost billions of dollars in health care.

NUTRITION AND CANCER

According to the National Academy of Sciences, 60 percent of all cancers in women and 40 percent of all cancers in men may be due to dietary and nutritional factors. Consequently, diet and nutrition are the principle preventive measures against cancer.Enzymes are required to get the proper nutrients from the food.

There is a growing number of people who are aware of this situation and are turning towards foods that enriched with different herbs, vitamins and minerals. More and more foods will be tailored to improve health and extend life.

Scientific studies on the healing potential in foods are in a constant progression. It is now understood that humans require a daily intake of particular nutrients to support their activities and that when one or more specific nutrients are absent, deficiency disorders will occur. It is known now that certain constituents in food have a health potential and can actively improve health.

For example, we know that humans are exposed to substances called free radicals. Those reactive molecules have been linked to a number of human diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's disease, cataracts, immune deficiency etc.

We are now aware that some plants, many fruits and vegetables have powerful compounds called antioxidants.

Foods containing antioxidants can prevent diseases such as cardiovascular disease.

Other foods contain fatty acids like fish can help lower blood pressure, nourish the brain and more.

Some foods are rich in fiber and can help protect our gastrointestinal tract.

The field of nutrition will play, in the years ahead, a leading role to improve our quality of life and will have a major influence on our health. Nutritional supplements for Healthy Lifestyle are a good support to reach that goal. Since we live in a toxic world, Clean Toxins from our body is also a major step.

Take action now to increase and protect your well-being.

Should You Be Taking Curcumin Supplements For Optimum Health?

By Peter Dawson Platinum Quality Author

What is it and why should you consider taking curcumin supplements every day? Curcumin is found in turmeric, the yellowish looking spice that is used in cooking, particularly curries for it's nice yellow color. Whilst turmeric is good to eat in a curry, it has lately been studied for much more than it's culinary benefits. The main use of curcumin may change from our dinner tables to our health supplements.

There is now sufficient evidence to link curcumin to a wide range of health benefits and trials and studies are now under way in an attempt to establish if, and exactly how, curcumin could be extremely good for your health. And if curcumin is good for your health then there is good reason to consider taking curcumin daily, curcumin supplements being the best way to do so.

What health benefits are linked to curcumin consumption? There's many. Firstly it has been linked to a wide range of health benefits for men, particularly heart health. Studies show that curcumin is a strong anti oxidant and anti inflammatory, and clinical trials of curcumin have suggested that it's anti inflammatory effects will result in lowering the risk of heart disease and heart attacks in men.

Studies have shown various other benefits as well including possible reductions in the build up of atheroschlerosis in the arteries and a consequent reduction in cholesterol. Further studies have shown a reduction in the risk of blood clots and possible benefits for lower blood pressure.

Other studies have suggested that the benefits of curcumin, particularly the anti inflammatory benefits, could be useful in the control of arthritis and even some particular cancers including stomach and colon cancer, and even breast cancer.

Curcumin has been heavily studied and human trials are imminent in some cases. Of course it is only in the case of successful human trials that the benefits could be said to be fully proven. However it is clear that the use of curcumin may no longer be restricted to the kitchen. Clearly it may help prevent, or treat, a range of illnesses in the future.

If you're seriously health conscious you may well be interested in the health benefits of curcumin. Whilst these haven't been fully proven to the satisfaction of the scientific community it seems encouraging indeed, and many are now engaging in oral curcumin supplementation. The use of curcumin supplements is increasing fast.

Of course there are many who would wait for full scientific proof, but with human trials of these things taking, sometimes, 10 years or more, many are forging ahead adding curcumin to a daily health regimen.

Or, of course, you could just eat a lot of curries with lots of turmeric in them. Lots of curries.

However there are also a lot of other recently discovered substances that are showing equal, or more, promise as a health supplement, particularly resveratrol. So if you take curcumin as a daily dietary supplement should you also be taking resveratrol?

There are, in fact, many different supplements that are showing extreme promise, and it is very difficult to formulate your own regime, and very expensive. That is better left to the experts to do. And there are some excellent dietary supplements available.

The worlds best dietary supplement contains 77 different ingredients, in the ideal delivery system ensuring maximum bio availability of these ingredients. These supplements include generous doses of curcumin and resveratrol, along with 75 other essential vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants and much more.

So yes, there are excellent and encouraging results coming through about the use of curcumin for health, though none fully proven by human trials. But there are no known side effects to the use of curcumin, (the Indians have been eating curries for centuries), and it seems as though there are powerful reasons to consider oral curcumin supplementation, daily.

But not with curcumin supplements. If you're serious about protecting your health you need to take the worlds best oral dietary supplements which include curcumin and 76 other vital ingredients. Get the benefits of curcumin supplements in a total supplement package.

Majority of people consume a copiousness amount of highly processed foods that acidify the body and, as a result, are troubled with several of these ailments.
A simple change in your diet will restore your acid-alkaline balance which will result in an immense improvement in your health.

The speculation behind an alkaline diet is that since our body's pH level is somewhat alkaline, usually ranging between 7.36 to 7.44, our diet should theorize this and also be somewhat alkaline.

However; our bodies are imbalanced because our diets are excessive in acidic foods such as sugar, caffeine, processed foods and animal proteins, and this will disrupt this balance.

If not helped it can deplete the body of alkaline minerals such as potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium, this will make you very prone to chronic and degenerative diseases.

So if you want to sort out your body and you want to enjoy optimum health, you need balanced amounts of both alkaline substances and acids.

Here are some great guideline tips to get you started;

Hydrate consistently. Drink as much water as you can, ideally at least 8 glasses a day.

Avoid Coffee, tea, soda and other acidic drinks.

Avoid Foods with preservatives, food colouring and additives.

Avoid all artificial sweeteners!

Keep vegetables ready in your fridge to nibble on all through the day or take them to the office to snack on.

Nuts and grains, also snack on these. You can have as many as you like because they are not acidic, as long as they aren’t salted or dry roasted of course!

Rat Food - What to Feed Your Pet Rats For Optimum Health and Happiness

By Catherine Smith Platinum Quality Author

Rats are omnivores, which means they will basically eat anything. You can buy rat and mouse food from the supermarket or a pet shop, but to keep your rat super happy you should supplement their basic cereal food with something a bit more exciting. Improved nutrition can lengthen your rats lifespan to 5 years.

You will discover what your pets favorite food are with a bit of experimentation (don't mention that word in front of the ratties). Try out lots of healthy, fresh foods like carrot sticks dipped in hommous, juicy apples and pears and you will soon see what they eat straight away, what they hide for later and what they just can't be bothered with at all.

My Wombat rat loves grapes. He holds them so delicately, takes off the top and the licks out the inside like a crème egg.

It's ok to give your rats treats too. They like the fruity treats you can buy in the pet shop for rabbits and guinea pigs and carob drops that you get for dogs. My rats like a bit of my dog's dried biscuits too.

Try out raisins and bread and peanut butter, spread thinly, to avoid choking (on a carrot or celery stick) and you will see what they like best. Just like us, they like variation in their diet. My rats, Ginger and Mr T just love chocolate soy milk and a lot of rats like yogurt too. Regular soy in our rats' diet is proven to reduce their chance of getting mammary tumors. Hard boiled eggs and bacon rind are other things your ratties might enjoy.

Ginger in particular is rather greedy and will actually try and grab things from my mouth! What a cheek!

Try hiding special treats around their cage in secret places and your ratties will love spending time searching for their favorite food, just like they would in the wild.

Remember not to overfeed your rats. If they get fat they can be more susceptible to tumors and other nasty things, so everything in moderation and try and feed lots of healthy living foods as well as the odd treat.

Of course you must always provide plenty of fresh water, ideally from a dripfeed bottle, fixed to the cage, that you can get from the pet shop. Try to clean the bottle and the food bowl out regularly to help keep your rats nice and healthy. Also make sure you change the food every day.

Don't feed male rats oranges. They have a component called d-limonene that builds up in the male rats kidneys and can cause cancer. Avoid all citrus flavours, oils and fruits. D-limonene is not shown to have any effect on female rats, but perhaps it is best to avoid these fruits anyway and stick to other foods your rat likes. Rats don't need to eat as much vitamin C as humans, as they are able to make their own.

When you find out what your ratties favorite food is, you can use it to train him. Rats are very intelligent and will do anything for their favorite food. They also like to please their favorite person too. My rats love to do tricks for a piece of Nesquick chocolate cereal or a spoon of chocolate soy milk (note the chocolate theme).

Secret to Optimum Health and Say Goodbye to Disease

By Alan C Johnson

I know that's a bold statement, but it is true. If you are willing to commit to a healthy lifestyle change you can increase your longevity and wellbeing dramatically.

Some of the lifestyle changes won't cost you a dime and others will simply be a fraction of the doctor visits and medical bills you can eliminate. The big payoff comes when you don't have any health issues to contend with. Obtaining optimum health feels great and looking years younger has its benefits too.

Many health specialists tell you that the first step to optimum health is to have a complete cleansing, I vehemently disagree, because there is a more important initial step other than a cleansing. Don't get me wrong a cleansing is very important but it is not the primary step.

You might think I'm misinformed or just plain crazy however you do not need to start with a cleansing. When you read my first newsletter you will obviously agree I am right. It is so logical that you might hear some people say "why haven't I ever heard that advice before?"

After learning what logic is behind my primary step and how much scientific research goes into the natural health profession you can only conclude that my first step to wellness should be broadcasted everywhere and hopefully will not be mysteriously overlooked.

It's like the old adage "Can't see the forest for the trees." Maybe it is so obvious that it has been overlooked all along. Please just remember where you read it first. Acai Berry Cleanse - Super Food For Optimum Health Or Just a Simple Fad?

By Stephany Daniel Platinum Quality Author

Acai Berry Cleanse - Super Food For Optimum Health Or Just a Simple Fad?

Acai berry is a new buzz word. However, what does it mean? The acai itself is a Brazilian fruit. It's small, purple, and about 80% seeds. It's become more popular as its health benefits were featured by guests on Oprah and The Today Show.

Both Dr. Oz and Dr. Perricone, frequent guests of the Oprah show, have stated that we must eat far more antioxidants to get to and stay at our optimum health. Acai contains these powerful antioxidants called acai berry cleanse, as was mentioned by both Dr. Perricone and Dr. Oz.

Dr. Oz went on to demonstrate how apples react with air. One was protected by lemon juice and one was exposed to the air. The one in the apple juice remained fresh while the one exposed to the air became brown and wrinkled. The antioxidants, like Vitamin C, in the lemon protected the apple slice. Acai berries contains those same antioxidants, but at an even higher concentration than lemons.

This fruit has become a recent fad due to its high nutritive value and wonderful flavor. It has also been gaining in popularity when combined a routine colon cleanse to help improve overall health. The combination of Acai Berry Cleanse and Colon Cleanse helps users to increase their energy levels and to lose weight while the antioxidants are absorbed from the acai berry component to restore lost nutrients.

The combination of super fruit and superb health methods into an acai berry cleanse further speeds up the process of dropping unwanted pounds.

In summary, by combining this super food with the superb health benefits of Colon Cleansing, the acai berry cleanse has double the health benefits. Colon cleansing has been clinically proven all over the world as a weight loss and health improvement method. The problem is finding the best products to use.

If you decide to try acai berry cleanse products, do your research. There are products that claim they contain the right amount or correct concentration of pure fruit or extract. Unfortunately, many of these products either contain hardly any acai berry in their so called acai berry cleanse product or have a product loaded with pulp and seeds, not the nutritious antioxidant rich fruit.

This is a loss for consumers who buy a product that has no benefit at all. Then they give up on the acai berry diet option, when what they had wasn't really an acai berry in the first place.

When you decide to use acai berry cleanse a diet plan, be sure to check the actual ingredients and to only use products have already proven to be high quality. After all, it's for your health. And getting only the real cleanse saves the cost and loss on inferior products.

To learn more about the acai berry cleanse and its multiple benefits; including weight loss, visit my blog: My-AcaiBerryStory.com where I reveal some shocking details about my own struggles in my weight loss battle, how I managed to succeed with acai berry based supplements and how you can get the best quality acai products for free. Achieving Optimum Health

By Tim Ong Platinum Quality Author

"Optimum health is not just the absence of disease but the presence of wellness in mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and social areas. Some would also include financial health."

Introduction

Optimum health is essential at all levels, from the individual to the society we live in to the environment around us. We have to start thinking of wealth not just in terms of possession of money and properties but also the possession of mental, emotional, physical, social and spiritual well-being.

Mental Health

The truth is mind is the forerunner of all states.

With a proper mindset, a poor man can still be happy. Conversely, if the mindset is not right, no matter how much material possessions you may have, you may still be a very unhappy person. Thus, Gandhi said, "The world has enough for everyone's needs, but not enough for even a single person's greed."

So a healthy mind is one that possesses a mindset that can lead to happiness and contentment with self and the world around us. It provides clarity of thoughts, good insight and the ability to see things through an unbiased mind.

To be able to see things through an unbiased mind is no small feat. It is extremely difficult to note or observe the unfolding of events and phenomena without judging. We habitually associate emotions or feelings to events, and allow such emotions to direct our actions. Our likes for certain things and dislikes for others are closely associated with our emotions.

Emotional Health

It is our emotions that lead us to act impulsively at times. Thus a high level of self-awareness in this area is extremely useful. In fact, it is essential to our well-being. After all, things and relationships that may take us years to build can be destroyed in a moment of anger.

There are positive and negative emotions. Positive emotions such as love, compassion and joy should be cultivated, while negative emotions such as fear, anger and hate need to be eradicated.

When asked about this, a wise sage of India once illustrated with a story:

An old man said to his grandson, "Boy, I have two tigers caged within me. One is love and compassion. The other is fear and anger."

The young boy asked, "Which one will win, grandfather?"

The old man replied, "The one I feed."

At times, it may seem that we have no control over our emotions. This is not true. The truth is how well we manage our emotions depends on how aware we are of our emotions, particularly on the arising of our emotions. The earlier we are able to note the arising of our emotions, we better we can manage them.

More and more researches are showing that our well-being is closely linked to our emotional and mental health. Our body's immune system is generally enhanced by positive mental outlook and emotion. Conversely, it is depressed by negative mental and emotional states. Thus, stress, worry, anger and fear are some states that may lead to physical illnesses such as hypertension, cardiac diseases, peptic ulcers, depression and a host of other ailments.

Physical Health

To maintain an optimum physical well-being, therefore, requires us to focus not only on our body but also our mind and emotions.

On a physical level, our body can be kept healthy through adequate sleep and rest, proper nutrition, regular exercises and a healthy environment that is free from pollution.

Spiritual Health

Throughout the ages, wise men have consistently informed and taught us that we are essentially spiritual beings.

Although medical science has not been able to reveal to us our spiritual nature, there are many indirect evidence that we would be foolish to ignore. Stories from people who had gone through a near death experience (NDE), or dying people with heightened nearing death awareness, or simply a cure from an 'incurable' disease all suggest that there is more to life than just the physical state.

Major religions of the world all based their teachings on the belief that we are essentially spiritual beings. According to these teachings, our physical existence is secondary.

While it may be true that we should focus our life more on our spiritual nature than our physical nature, it would be difficult for the majority of people to do so, at least not immediately. Things cannot change overnight. Mindset, however, can, and that is perhaps the best place to start.

Financial Health

However, on a more mundane level, most people are still stuck on how to survive from day to day, where to get the next cheque to pay for the house installment, so on and so forth.

Practically, therefore, we need to look into ways to achieve a financial state that would theoretically free us from the constrain of 'forced' work. This is where the concept of financial freedom is so attractive. According to this concept, one should strive for a state where we have one or more than one source of income that can be generated passively, that is, even when we don't work.

This is what Robert Kiyosaki termed as 'passive income'.

According to him, passive income can only be achieved by becoming an investor or a business owner, not a sole proprietor or an employee. To become an investor or a business owner, you must spend the time and money to acquire financial intelligence. Unlike IQ or EQ, you can acquire financial intelligence through self education.

To get a financial health check-up, consult an accountant, a banker or a financial planner you can trust.

Healthy Relationship

"No man is an island, entire by itself."

As a medical doctor, I am in a unique position to confront and comfort dying patients. One of the most important thing that I have observed is that dying people do not ask about their money or possessions. Instead, they focus their remaining energy and strength on trying to heal wounded relationships. It is as though there is an inherent need to get a proper closure to a relationship.

Thus, forming and cultivating a healthy relationship is important for our well-being. Unfortunately, this is something we often ignored until it is too late. If there is any forgiving to be done, or the need to be forgiven, leaving things to the last minutes may end up with an unfulfilled desire for a closure.

Knowing this now, shouldn't we spend more time and effort in improving our relationship with our loved ones, especially with our parents, spouse, children and siblings?

Optimum Health Insurance Policy and Life

By Michael Bens

We are designed to heal from sickness naturally; however, at times we need medical treatment to recover from ill. There are scores of healthcare providers today that are taking advantage of patients, therefore, health insurance coverage is essential to understand to avoid become the next victim. The healthcare fees are increasing also, therefore, having no coverage can cost you a fortune. Nowadays, healthcare, creators of prescription drugs, pharmaceutical companies, physicians, and the government are gaining profit from healthcare. The sources will not tell you that there are natural herbs available to increase your health and provide relief from most every illness available. Therefore, the natural cures are not often available, thus when a person needs treatment, they often resort to medicines and doctors.

There are various health insurance policies available today, however many have eliminated the extreme coverage of modern medicines. In other words, the policies will not cover many prescriptions due to the higher costs. Some polices, such as Medicaid, will cover generic prescriptions, however, the policyholder is restricted to particular doctors under the coverage. Thus, having life insurance coupled with health insurance may be the option for you, since many life insurance agencies will also offer for a low cost Terminal Ill or Critical Illness coverage. These plans will cover nearly every disease, injuries and so forth on the market, and will often provide a source of coverage for prescriptions. Be sure to ask the agency where you seek your insurance what the plans will cover. In addition, you may need to seek out prescription plan coverage to pay for you medicines if you need ongoing treatment. The plans often cost a small fortune, but will cover the expenses of nearly all medications.

If you work then you probably already have a measure of health insurance coverage provided to you by your company. Make sure you ask if uncertain to avoid paying extra cost for something you already have. If you have lost your job (no fault of you own), you may qualify for Cobra insurance coverage, which will provide you a measure of coverage if you should become ill, or else need medications. The policy was designed by the federal laws to offer coverage to those out of work. The policy will often cover many healthcare costs, including some medicines. The policy however is a temporary relief to those without work.

Health insurance varies, but overall, the policies are a ‘pre-negotiated’ plan that will cover a measure of treatment and medical procedures. The policies often stipulate that the policyholder is responsible for co-payments, which upfront fees are paid to the medical provider. There are several types of coverage, which include “self-insured” policies, which means the person does not have coverage at all and will pay the entire of amount of expenses incurred from treatment. The “Managed Care Plans” are contracted plans that are setup on a network. Thus, the doctors in this plan agree to provide treatment to patients at lower costs. The “health maintenance Org” (HMO) plans are also pre-paid options in that the policyholder is also required to stay within a network of medical.

The PPO or “Preferred Provider Orgs” are a collection of hospitals and physicians that negotiate medical treatment and the insured agrees to pay the amount set, before reimbursement takes place. The POS plans, or “Point of Service” does not require a co-payment, but the patient must remain within the requested network to receive treatment. “Indemnity” coverage are less restricted, in that the patient can go anywhere he chooses for treatment. However, this plan is often more expensive than other plans.

There are various other plans on the marketplace available to provide coverage when medical care is needed. Again, you may want to look into life insurance coupled with health insurance so that you can have the most coverage available to you when it is needed. None of us can predict when treatment is needed, therefore, do not expect to live a healthy life permanently without health insurance coverage, believing it can never happen to you.

Cancer Prevention And Optimum Health Checklist - Five Basic Things You Must Do

By John Fink

Cancer prevention and optimum health checklist: Five basic things you must do.

(1.) The first thing you must do is maintain a healthy blood oxygen level. Why is your oxygen level so important? According to a research conducted by the John Hopkins Cancer Research Center, cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated medium. That research also stated that the lack of oxygen is the root cause of many diseases.

Not maintaining a healthy blood oxygen level can be very costly to your health and to your finances.

Matthew Pusey is a 32-year-old fitness enthusiast who has never smoked. He has terminal lung cancer. His oxygen levels were desperately low and he had lost 10% of his body weight. Terminal lung cancer is a costly price for not maintaining a healthy blood oxygen level. Mr. Pusey is taking a drug called Avastin which helps restore oxygen to the body. It is also very expensive. Avastin cost s up to $5,700 per treatment. Mr. Pusey is funding the treatment from his savings.

Don't wait until your oxygen level falls to dangerous levels and will be very expensive to remedy. There are oxygen supplements that you can take to help prevent your oxygen level from plummeting to dangerous levels.

(2.) The second thing you must do for cancer prevention and optimum health is to refrain from smoking. If you are already a smoker, QUIT. There is no doubt in my mind that my cancer which started in my tonsils was a direct result of my smoking non filter cigarettes for over 50 years.

"When you light up a cigarette and inhale it, you're not just inhaling the nicotine but also replacing some oxygen molecules with the byproduct." Joyce Davidson, registered nurse and facilitator for the smoking cessation course.

You may think that the first item on this checklist should have been to quit smoking, and the checking your blood oxygen level the second item. They are in this order because, although smoking definitely lowers your blood oxygen level, you do not have to smoke in order to have a low blood oxygen level.

(3.) Be sure you are eating foods that help prevent cancer. Listing a cancer prevention diet is beyond the scope of this article. A simple healthy diet includes high fiber and fruits and vegetables. Check with your health care professional for a cancer prevention diet that is right for you. Cancer prevention diets are not "One size fits all."

For instance, Brazil nuts are a rich form of selenium. The University of Arizona showed that only two unshelled Brazil nuts daily - resulted in a 39 percent overall decrease in cancer deaths.

However, Brazil nuts, or any type of nut, is not good for me. As a result of having a colostomy during my cancer treatment, nuts, corn, and other small kernel foods are not for me. Again, check with your health care professional for a cancer prevention diet that is right for you.

(4.) Exercise. The American Cancer Society recommends exercising 30 or more minutes, at least 5 days a week! There are many ways to exercise without lifting weights, buying an exercise machine or joining a gym. Walking, dancing, Tai Chi or Yoga are all recommended.

Just as in selecting the right diet for you as an individual, your exercise plan must be unique for you. Again, check with your health care professional before starting an exercise program.

30 minutes of vigorous exercise daily may be perfectly alright for one person and a death sentence for another. You can use some common sense when it comes to exercise.

(5.) Last but not least. Detecting cancer early increases survival rates. You should have a complete cancer-related exam every three years if you are between 20 and 40 years of age. Once you reach 40, you should have a complete cancer-related exam yearly. These exams are not cancer screening tests. They can help you doctor recommend what screening test would be right for you.

Screening means checking your body for cancer before there are signs or symptoms of the disease. The routine performance of screening tests may find many kinds of cancer early, when treatment is likely to work best. Unfortunately, there are no screening tests for many types of cancer. There are very reliable screenings for these types of cancer; Bladder cancer, Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Colon Cancer, Lung Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Prostate Cancer, and Skin Cancer.

1. The Correct Method of Drinking Water

We drink water everyday, but why is it that some people enjoy good health from drinking water whereas others do not? The answer is: there is technique to drinking water!

Most people drink too little water; this is why their health is not good. How much should we drink then? The answer is that most people need to drink at least four litres of water a day. The amount should be increased if you have skin problem.

Apart from being a constituent part of our body cells, water also has multiple roles. For example it maintains an adequate flow around and between cells, and takes part in many chemical functions in the cells. Most importantly, water disperses nutrients and carries wastes out of our body, including toxins.

Hence if you drink very little water, it would not be able to carry out the function of discharging wastes properly. The best time to drink water is immediately after you rise from bed in the morning. At this time, you can drink about two cups of water to awaken the body's various functions and to clean the bowels. Following that, you can drink half a cup of water every 10 minutes. However, drinking water should be avoided within the period of half an hour before meals and one hour after meals. This is because it would dilute the stomach's acid and affect digestion.

The effect of detoxification is be better if you drink lemon water because the acid in lemon enhances digestion and the vitamin C in lemon aids in clearing the bowels. Making lemon water is very simple, just add the juice of one or half a lemon to one litre of water and add a little salt -- just enough so you can barely taste the salt. A good practice is to get a one litre water bottle and carry it with you so you can drink water at any moment of the day.

2. Fasting

The word "fasting" sounds terrifying - we cannot even survive without eating, how can it be a type of natural therapy? However if fasting is carried out properly, it can really let the body expel its toxins in a short period of time.

The theory of fasting can be explained by looking at our digestive system. Our digestive system has two main functions - taking in nutrients and self-healing through detoxification. The reason why our body accumulates waste is because our digestive system cannot effectively handle both functions simultaneously. When we fast, we don't eat, our digestive system does not need to absorb nutrients, thus it is then able to carry out its detoxification function and help us heal ourselves.

There are two main reasons why people are not healthy in this modern day: the first is the accumulation of toxins and the second is stress. Stress can be reduced through activities like yoga and meditation, whereas to "clean" ourselves, we would need to limit our food intake and detoxify our body.

Toxins do not only come from our polluted environment, they also come from the by-product of our food - mainly food that is difficult to digest, such as egg, beans, fish, meat, snacks and fried food. Therefore to prevent toxins from forming in our body, the most basic way is to choose the correct food and make sure we do not eat except when we are really hungry. It is best to eat high-fibre and fresh food and drink more fruit juice, especially the juice of citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges.

As for detoxification, apart from drinking more water it would be good if you can fast one day every week or fast when you catch the flu. It is however important that fasting be done with the guidance of a specialist as incorrect fasting can be harmful.

So, there it is: drink water and make the proper use of fasting to help detoxify your body. Both practices will help you to have the best possible health.

Optimum Health Mathematics

By Kevin Gianni Platinum Quality Author

Optimum health math is based on four simple elements.

Food, energy, health and wealth. Once you see the relationship, your energy levels, productivity, and bank accounts will skyrocket.

I use this simple equation for the foods I eat and the lifestyle I've adopted.

Dead food = dead energy.

What does this mean?

If the food is dead or cooked, you're not getting the best nutrition possible.

It doesn't necessarly mean that you stop eating everything cooked or eat raw meat, it means that you just accept the formula and with that knowledge you can create massive energy or just cruise along at medium altitude at what ever you do--just with the foods you eat.

The more raw, the better.

Many people interpret this as being a vegetarian or being a vegan. Sometimes just being a vegetarian isn't enough.

I've seen many that are a little tight around the waistline and wonder--if they're not eating meat, what's going on... they should be thin and healthy, right?

Well there're pasta-tarians, and bread-aholics and rice-a-ronis and a bunch more. Is being any of these bad? Nope. It just means you're not gearing yourself for maximum success...

Now let's look at another optimum health equation:

Optimum health = maximum wealth.

What you eat is directly related to the thickness of your wallet.

Why?

Because you're the one who's calling all the shots. If you're worn down, tired and eating foods that don't fuel your body for maximum results, you'll shoot off the mark.

The more your body is fueled with minerals, vitamins, phytonutrients and superfoods the more you're able to create. Creation comes from a clear head, right?

So if you're stopped up, so is you ability to succeed massively.

So keep those equations in mind.

The best way to transition from where you are now to where you want to be is to add not subtract.

So instead of eliminating dead foods all together, add a bunch of live foods and eventually you'll lose the taste for some of the cooked stuff. This doesn't mean you have to become a complete raw foodist... just look at the math. 20% is better than 0%. 50% is better than 20%.

And if you keep adding, you WILL have boundless and intense energy--which is something most people don't want to give up.

Probiotics - The Powerful Flora Positively Necessary For Optimum Health

By Kimberly Shannon Platinum Quality Author

Perhaps you're curious as to what are probiotics? Inside your intestinal tract are trillions of microorganisms. These probiotics live inside your intestines and come with an astounding job. It would be an understatement to say that, these microscopic bacteria are the heroes of our bodies. These little heroes fight off the evil microorganisms.

In order to be classified as probiotics they must be able to destroy, damage, and basically turn the disease-causing pathogenic bacteria into harmless bacteria. It's our job to understand their needs so that they can keep up with the constant bombarding of bad bacteria growing inside our body.

This is no easy task keeping our friendly bacteria healthy and multiplying faster than the bad bacteria. In todays world full of fast food, genetically altered and highly processed foods as well as the nutritionally used up soil that our fruits and vegetables are grown in, it's becoming quite burdonsome for our bodies to maintain an environment that helps our friendly bacteria grow faster than those nasty ones.

Is it worth it to spend the time to learn exactly what we need to do to in order to keep our friendly probiotic bacteria healthy? First, let's consider some of the jobs that they can perform when they are flourishing inside us.

Healthy bacteria will filter out and eliminate damaging substances like those bad bacteria. They help to flush out toxins and chemicals. Some of which are caused by those naughty microorganisums. They also help eliminate other waste products and prevent these same products from being absorbed into our blood stream where they can reek even more deadly damage on our other vital organs.

In addition to those things, a healthy intestinal tract, complements of our healthy flora, will absorb and distribute essential ingredients, that are sent down into our intestines via food and water. All these things are absorbed and then distributed into our cells that need them.

Currently, there are human studies being conducted for the purpose of learning if these microorganisums can help in the prevention of cancer. Imagine the difference it would make when something like breast cancer symptoms could be handled with probiotic treatments instead of radiation or chemotherapy.

Now that you're interest is piqued. You may be happy to know that introducing probiotics into your body can be as simple as buying yogurt that contains active live cultures. You may even have heard about Lactobacillus bulgaricus. This is one of the many wonderful probiotic bacteria that make up the healthy flora and fauna inside our intestinal tract. And there are quite a few varieties found in many of todays yogurt brands.

Another way to benefit our intestinal tract is by way of exercise. Even something like the gentle stretching as in the Supreme Pilates type movements will aid our digestive tract in pushing out toxins and waste and this of course aids in and lessons the burdens placed on the friendly microorganisms whos job is to also get rid of toxic waste build up.

Knowing all this, isn't it time to learn more probiotics so that you can help them flourish inside your body to keep you running at optimum health? I'll also be adding more articles on the subject so stay tuned and come back to learn more about the super immune system boosting effects of probiotics.
